Is Musitechnic Still Around? Here's Where We Stand in 2026

If you've searched for opinions on Musitechnic, you may have run into an old, second-hand claim that the school was shutting down, or that graduates weren't finding work in audio. That claim is nearly a decade old, it was wrong about the closure even then, and it's certainly out of date now.

Here's where things actually stand: Musitechnic (College Unica) has trained audio and sound design professionals in Montreal since 1987, 39+ years of continuous operation. We're recognized by Quebec's Ministere de l'Enseignement superieur and Ministere de la Culture et des Communications as a specialized college in music arts and technology; our AEC programs (NNC.0S, NNC.0N) are ministry-accredited. 80% of graduates are working in the field within 12 to 16 months of finishing their program. More than 5,000 alumni are active in the global audio industry, including at Ubisoft, Eidos, Radio-Canada and Netflix. Students train in 8 professional studios and 3 labs equipped with SSL consoles, Pro Tools HD and Ableton Live.

None of this is meant to argue with anyone's individual experience, people are entitled to their own opinions of any school. But if the question is simply whether Musitechnic is a real, currently operating, government-recognized program with graduates working in the industry, the numbers above are the current answer.
